Session Description: Patients with risk of developing infection are a common concern faced by the Emergency Physician. The initiation of antibiotics should be based on risk vs benefit as well as attention to rising rates of antimicrobial resistance. This session will dive into common scenarios where prophylactic antibiotics are often given and ask the question; are they necessary? We will dive into the evidence behind two common scenarios. Epistaxis with nasal packing and trauma.
