Since the pandemic, we continue to see an uptick in patients with emergent psychiatric presentations. Many require medical clearance before admission to an inpatient psychiatric facility—and this work-up/requirement varies considerable by state. Today we will discuss conditions/medications the ER provider should consider and be aware of before medically clearing the presumed supratentorial presenting patient for an inpatient admission at a psychiatric facility.
