Session Description: Not all emergency departments have access to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, leaving this task to the emergency physician. This session will present a practical and evidence-based approach to conducting a sexual assault medical forensic examination in the ED. The lecture will start with an overview of sexual assault care guiding principles and then will walk the audience through the best practice steps of the history, examination, evidence collection, handling, and packaging, and prophylaxis medications used by Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. .
