Session Description: Back pain is one of the most common presenting complaints to EDs and it is easy to become complacent in the evaluation of these patients. This lecture will highlight historical and physical exam findings that should prompt a more through evaluation, how to quickly perform a complete exam, and review the rare but deadly causes of back pain.

After this session, the learner will know the "red" flags of back pain that should trigger additional evaluation in the ED.
After this session, the learner will know the recommended treatment for aortic aneurysms, spinal epidural abscesses, and caudi equina.
