Dr. Nicole McCoin is an AOA graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and continued her studies at Vanderbilt as an Emergency Medicine Resident and Chief Resident. Subsequently, she joined the faculty there, with a special interest in resident education. She served as Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director. In addition, during her tenure at Vanderbilt, her leadership spanned the undergraduate and medical school campuses in addition to the medical center. She was a Course Director for Vanderbilt School of Medicine, a member of the Vanderbilt School of Medicine Curriculum 2.0 Steering Committee, Faculty Senator, and a leader in GMEC. She was selected as one of the 2019-2020 Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Fellows as well as one of the 2020 Nashville Women to Watch. She joined Ochsner Medical Center in the fall of 2020 as Chair of Emergency Medicine in order to lead the growth of Ochsner Department of Emergency Medicine as an academic department. She is also a member of the University of Queensland School of Medicine Course Design Implementation Group as the school redesigns their curriculum. Given all of her efforts and advancements that she has made at Ochsner, she was awarded the 2021 Ochsner Health System Physician Academic Contributor of the Year. She also is a 2023 recipient of the ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award.
