Dr. Shannon graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2005 and received his Masters of Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2004. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 2006 and his Emergency Medicine training at the Jacobi and Montefiore Medical Centers of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 2009. He subsequently worked as junior faculty at the John F Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia, and then as Senior Registrar in Emergency Medicine at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania, Australia, before returning to the United States to complete a fellowship in emergency ultrasound at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2011. Dr. Shannon has spent his career in graduate medical education with an academic focus on point-of-care ultrasound training and interests in global health and wilderness and austere medicine. He is currently the Director of Emergency Ultrasound at the Lakeland Regional Health Emergency Department in central Florida, and is a current AAEM EUS Section Councilor.
